Townhouse Development with a Mail House

In looking to create a new residential community within site not far from the town center, a collection of 45 new townhouses and new roads are designed. These townhouses will be located off the main road, and in blocks of five. Each townhouse focuses on luxury of the individual family.
The two bed townhouses have an abundance of storage, open space, and garage, in addition to private decks. The façade will resemble a modern farmhouse design, to bring in the essence of the area, while looking to add a modern feel. Exterior wall materials will include, bead board, board and batten, and stone.

The project has been a collaborative effort amongst peers. Sketching and modeled massing studies have been used for iteration exercises. Though it is still a working process, the project is pushing forward with this design in the schematic phase.
​The image to the left is a colored sketch style exploration of a view for a resident. In focusing on the idea of creating a secluded community development it is essential to consider the human scale, especially the exterior.
The Design Package
The design package includes façade design research conducted in the pre-design phase that was presented to the client. Additionally, the package includes a pre-designed mail house that will be added to the development. This mail house will serve as not only a place to pick up mail, but a small community room. The project is in the schematic phase currently, as the interior elements are still changing.
